The Faith of Leap

Hello!  Gabe read a great book by that title this summer… The Faith of Leap! It is how we are trying to live our lives.

It seemed like time for a quick update on our family’s adventures! This summer was normal Ohio  life around here…work, travel, homeschool. And random practical jokes, such as the day the kids made some FAKE kids and left them lying around the house. Made me jump EVERY TIME I saw one on the floor or sitting in a chair!

We had yet another garage sale to sell even more stuff!  We are down to just one storage unit of possessions, because…

in October, we are heading back to Mexico!  This time, it will be an even bigger leap of faith, because there are a lot more unknowns. But there is a great Corrie Ten Boom story that has been inspiring us.  She tells the story of how when she went on a train trip as a child, her father would buy both tickets, but he held the tickets until just before it was time to board the train. Then, when it was time to go, he handed her the ticket. Just as our heavenly Father has what we need, and will give it to us at the time we need it!  So we are trusting in that.

Here is what we DO know. We are going to the town of La Mision, Mexico. This is just about an hour south of San Diego.  We have been helping with child sponsorship at Door of Faith orphanage there.  On our trip in May, we discussed doing more if we were living in town, and they assured us there would be plenty of ways to serve. There is also a free medical clinic, Siloe Clinic,  being built in town which would be a great ministry to serve with as well.  We also want to visit a Christian school for the deaf which is maybe an hour from there. Our plan is to rent a house in town and be able to serve with whichever ministries need us.  Gabe will continue to run his business in Ohio, some of the time from Mexico and some of the time, back to Ohio.

We are also continuing with our ministry for parents, Courage for Parents.  We are excited that we will be able to host family mission trips starting in 2017, which can be customized for 1-5 families at a time.  We will offer a mix of serving, adventures, and family discipleship training for the families who come and stay with us. Spread the word… think about us for your Spring Break trip! πŸ™‚

Related to that, I am very excited because I am going to give a TED talk about parenting at the Dayton TEDX event in October.  I thought the application and auditioning process were the hard part, but once I was chosen, I found out that the actual preparation process is really intense.  It hasn’t always been easy on my ego, I have cried through a few meetings, but overall, it has been such a learning experience and I am thankful for it! Just over a month to go to prepare… and the next day, we head out to Mexico!

We are trusting in God to provide the right house for us once we get there, lead us into where/how we can serve locally, and open doors for Courage for Parents workshops (in Dayton and San Diego both), mission trips and family coaching. We appreciate your prayers that we can listen, follow and obey His voice!

More updates on His faithfulness coming! πŸ™‚

And PS… we are taking a Facebook break right now!  So if you need us, text or email is best!
