Yay! Our PO Box here receives packages… and we received a bunch of stuff. (No, we do not order this much stuff all the time. But these are some books we plan to use as we begin this trip here… so I am excited!)
Here is what was in those packages…
1. The game “SET”… a birthday present for one of the teens here
2. A kids’ biography of Amy Carmichael (missionary to India) in Spanish and English, for my new group with 5th and 6th grade girls here at the orphanage
3. Piano books to teach Liam and Aliya
4. Haz Cosas Difficiles… “Do Hard Things” in Spanish, to share with the teens here
5. Start Here, the next book after “Do Hard Things”, for Josiah and the teens here
6. Own Your Life… the latest book from Sally Clarkson for me to read… I love her!
7. A Shepherd Looks at the 23rd Psalm… one of Gabe’s favorites!
In addition, I have to tell you about these amazing journals I ordered for the kids for school. Our boys in particular are not fond of writing, so I thought these would be slightly less painful way for them to add additional writing into their school week.
Here is Josiah’s… he answers a prompt, and then writes a question for me, and we pass it back and forth. (In the CLASSIFIED envelope, of course!) His reaction? He LOVES it! He didn’t want to wait until the first day of the school semester. As soon as he looked at it, he wanted us to begin. He said it is the most awesome writing assignment he has ever had! I was pleasantly surprised that he liked it so much!!!
Kiersen has a similar one, but with a much cuter girly envelope to pass it back and forth. I knew she would love it, because she loves to write and loves journals! 🙂
Liam is another somewhat reluctant writer, but he was also super excited about this journal and started his entries this week.
And finally, Aliya. I have to help her as she has a lot more to say than she knows how to spell! But she and I are doing her entries together and I will write very small to make sure I get all her words in each page!
I ordered the journals from gandanke.com, and highly recommend them to anyone, homeschoolers or not. New books and journals… some of my favorite things! Maybe you will like some of these too!
