Lots of time hanging out with the kids who live here… at both sites. One day we did some coloring… thanks, Grandma Haerer, for the art supplies!

The boys playing football (both American football and soccer) in the courtyard.

This little guy has an infection on his feet, so he can’t run and play with the other kids.  So we have been playing cards with him to help keep him entertained.

Aliya has found a friend who loves dirt as much as she does!  This little girl is the daughter of a staff couple and is a year younger than Aliya.  She loves Barbies and playing in dirt and mud… they are a perfect combo.

Gabe often tries to work on his computer in the cafeteria (where the wi fi is better), but instead ends up just talking with the kids with the help of a translation program.  If I had a picture, it would be him and a crowd of kids around him 🙂

One other thing I did was a workout on the soccer field (dirt, not grass) with two of the older girls.  This week was the first time I had worked out since we got here!  A couple of the high school girls told me they wanted to exercise too, so we did a 30 min workout.  It was fun- I was dying, they were fine!  Hoping some more of the girls will join us. Its a fun way to hang out with girls that age.

The kids have so few activities beyond their basic school day that anything extra is good.  Occasionally groups from churches come down to do something with them, but other than that, not a ton of extra stuff. Whatever activities we do with them gives us opportunities to build relationships that will last beyond the coloring page or the last lunge:)
